The Directorate of Services of Educational Technologies and Innovative Learning Environments from the Regional Directorate of Education (DSTAIA-DRE) develops educational projects in the Madeira archipelago. The Hellenic Network for Open and Distance Education is a non-profit scientific society founded in 2002. It brings together Greek scientists and researchers engaged in the development, provision, and study of open and distance education as well as Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in education. The Network actively promotes the philosophy of open education, supports free access for all citizens to lifelong learning opportunities, and encourages innovative and alternative forms of education.
The Hellenic Network for Open and Distance Education maintains a strong scientific presence through a range of activities, including the publication of the bilingual (Greek–English) scientific journal “Open Education”, the organization and support of the “International Conference in Open and Distance Learning” (ICODL) in collaboration with the Hellenic Open University, as well as the organization of Summer Schools, methodology seminars, workshops, webinars, and educational film festivals.
